From the time that dinosaur fossils were first discovered to today, dinosaurs have been the object of study and wonder. Their sheer size compared to humans. Did they really have feathers? There are so many things left to learn. There is also the fun side of dinosaurs. Cartoon dinosaurs populate children’s books and cartoons. Inflatable dinosaur costumes are all the rage. Who doesn’t love seeing a T-Rex walking the street?
During the Winter Reading Program for Teens and Adults from December 17, 2022-January 28, 2023, we will be celebrating everything dinosaur.
Through the month of January, from 4-5pm, Teen Tuesdays include:
January 3: DIY prehistoric mason jar terrariums
January 10: The movie Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
January 17: Yoshi Day
January 24: Virtual reality dinosaur roller coaster ride.
For adults, programs include:
January 5: Rose City Book Club will discuss Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
January 19: 3D Print Dinosaurs
January 26: DIY: Dinosaur Soap
It wouldn’t be a Winter Reading Program program without a fantastic prize! To be eligible for the Grand Prize, complete the Winter Reading Challenge by reading 600 minutes over 6 weeks and your name will be entered into a drawing for an inflatable dinosaur costume! During the program, there will be several chances to spin a Wheel of Prizes at the main circulation desk. Prizes will include items such as books, candy, pens, and drawstring bags.
